* Alarms – you may be able to use your UNI-V phone service for third-party alarms like medical and security alarms. Not all the devices connected to, nor all the services currently operating on, the existing copper-based Australian telecommunications network will necessarily be able to operate in their present form on the UNI-V phone service. You should check with your service provider to make sure they have tested their service for NBN UNI-V connections.
* Customer Service Guarantee – for AusBBS to provide you with phone services at the low charges we have offered requires you to waive various rights that are specified in the Telecommunications Act. These rights, known collectively as “The Customer Service Guarantee”. For more information see the AusBBS CDG Waiver.
* Phone number porting – where you want to transfer your existing phone number to AusBBS we will first activate your service with a new number and charging will commence from the date of activation. Blocking Caller ID for a specific number

This will block caller ID for a single phone call.

When using this feature your phone number will not be visible to the person
you are calling for that call only.

Dial the following number, followed by the phone number you wish to call:

1831 [a valid phone number]

Blocking Caller ID for all numbers

This will block caller ID for any number you call in the future.

Once activated, when you make a call your phone number will not be visible to
the person you are calling.

Activating Call Forwarding

To forward all calls to your mobile or another land line, enter the following
key sequence on your home telephone handset:

* 2 1 * [a valid phone number]

You will hear an announcement saying ‘Call Forward Activated’.

Your phone will no longer ring when a call comes in.

All incoming calls will now go to the phone number you have selected – your
mobile, a friend or neighbour’s home etc.

Callers will be charged their usual call costs to your home, you will incur
the call costs to the number you have selected.

Deactivating Call Forwarding

To deactive the call forward feature, enter the following key sequence on your
home telephone handset:

* 2 2 *

You will hear an announcement saying ‘Call Forward Deactivated’.

Your phone will now ring as usual when a call comes in.

Activating Call Waiting

To let you know when you have a second caller trying to reach you, enter the
following key sequence on your home telephone handset:

* 4 3 *

You will hear an announcement saying ‘Call Waiting Activated’.

Your phone will give a short beep if there is another caller trying to reach
you.

Review the telephone handset manual for the method of switching between the 2
callers.

The handset ‘HOLD’ key simply puts the current call on hold. It does not
usually allow you to switch between callers in the call waiting situation.

Deactivating Call Waiting

To turn off the call waiting feature, enter the following key sequence on your
home telephone handset:

* 4 4 *

You will hear an announcement saying ‘Call Waiting Deactivated’.

Your phone will not know when a second caller is trying to reach you.

The second caller will hear the usual engaged tone as you are already on a
call.

Activating Voicemail

To enable voicemail, dial 101 and wait for the confirmation.

Deactivating Voicemail

To disable voicemail, dial 102 and wait for the confirmation.

Accessing messages

To listen to Voice mail, dial 103 and wait for the confirmation.

  • Press 2 for new messages.
  • Press 7 to delete messages.
  • Press 4 to retrieve old messages.
  • Press 5 to repeat message.

Note: Messages will be stored for a period of 14 days from the time of
recording after which time they will be automatically deleted.

Customize VoiceMail Greetings

A user can access their voice mailbox by calling "*97", selecting "0" for
Advanced Mailbox Options, and then selecting a number from "1" to "4" to
record a specific type of greeting:

  • Unavailable
  • Busy
  • User’s Name
  • Temporary Greeting

You can port (transfer) phone numbers from Telstra, Optus, AAPT, Primus, Powertel or TPG. We may not be able to port the number in all circumstances, including where you fail to provide correct account details, or as a result of contractual obligations with your existing provider. If you are porting your number to AusBBS, inbound calling to the number will not commence until porting is complete which will take a further 1 to 5 business days.

Yes. If you have chosen to receive or will be receiving a new number from AusBBS, the phone number will automatically be assigned based on the address provided for the installation.

You will need to provide the current Account Number of the existing phone provider. After ordering a phone port you will receive a porting form to complete the required details.

Providing an incorrect Account Number may result in delays with the porting process and lengthen the period in which you will not be able to receive any incoming phone calls.

Call Waiting feature is ready to use and do not require activation. All other standard features like call barring can be configured by contacting our helpdesk using the contact us form.

No, call forwarding to international numbers is not supported.

The directory listing (if any) from the previous provider may or may not be carried across to AusBBS. AusBBS will not list the number by default, however customers may choose to list the number in the directory by contacting the Help Desk.

If your address is serviceable by LBNCo optical fibre but not yet connected to the network, AusBBS will organise this for you. The network connection usually involves the installation of an Optical Network Unit (ONU) on the outside of your home and a drop of fibre from the street to the ONU. There is a once off fee required only the first time that your property is connected to the LBNCo Network.

No, you can choose to use your own hardware to connect to the Internet via AusBBS by selecting "BYO Network Device" as you go through the account setup process. Note however, that while we will assist in getting you up and running with your own device, AusBBS only provides customer support for AusBBS supplied devices. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are out of contract with your existing provider and notify them that your are terminating. If you are a transferring customer your order with AusBBS will automatically cause your service the cut over to our network however you may still need to notify the previous provider that you have terminated your arrangements with them.

Yes. Note that for residential casual contracts there are no termination fees. You just need to give 30 days written notice. For residential 12 and 24 month contracts the early termination fee amount will be multiplied by the remaining months in the Term. After the end of a 12 or 24 month term the contract can be terminated with 30 days written notice.

Business contracts will incur a termination fee equal to the months remaining on the term x the monthly plan rate.
